Who needs to take a tuberculosis test and a certificate of knowledge of English for a visa to England

There are types of visas where it is very easy to get confused. Especially if one of the requirements for a guaranteed visa is a tuberculosis test and an IELTS English language certificate. This category includes Spouse Visa to England, EEA Family Permit Visa, long-term student visas. Now we will try to figure out what must be prepared for a certain type of visa.

As a rule, certificates are required for the following types of visas:

Tuberculosis test for a visa to England

You must be tested for tuberculosis if you intend to stay (live / study / work) in the United Kingdom for more than six months and is a permanent resident of one of the listed countries. This means that you must take a tuberculosis test before applying for a fiancee, wife, Tier 4 visa and a student visa for 11 months.

If the tuberculosis test turns out to be negative, you will receive a certificate valid for 6 months. This certificate will need to be included in the document folder when applying for an English visa.

Who does not need to undergo research

You do not need to be tested for tuberculosis for a visa if you:

  • accredited diplomat in the United Kingdom
  • permanent resident of the United Kingdom who returns to the country within 2 years of departure
  • have a certificate confirming the right to reside in the United Kingdom
  • child under 11 years of age

Children

It is necessary to come with the child to an approved clinic and fill out a questionnaire about his health. If the doctor decides not to test the child, he will issue a certificate confirming that the child does not need to undergo this test. This certificate must be included in the package of documents for a visa to England.

Pregnant women

There are 2 options for passing tuberculosis test for a visa to England:

  • x-ray with the help of an additional screen to protect you and the child.
  • sputum analysis (mucus from the lungs) – additional payment is possible, and waiting for the results can last up to 8 weeks.</ span>

If you do not want to take the test, you can have an X-ray taken at a UK-approved clinic within the last 3 months. Ask your doctor to review your X-ray. If the results are acceptable, the doctor will issue you the necessary certificate for a visa to England.
